Embracing Diversity: Celebration of Cultures and Traditions
For this month my photo gallery entitled: “Embracing Diversity: Celebration of Cultures and Traditions” would like to explore some of the folklore and the culture rituals of Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Canada. “Los lugareños” (the local people) that live in these countries share the intangible love for their culture history, the respect for their ancestors and the willingness to share the multicultural and the multi-generational legacy to future generations. This is so amazing! It is so wonderful to see how they gather the members of the community (local and foreigners) in public places and share their stories about food, fashion, folklore, and lifestyles. If you think about, all these elements are similar in any country and they are part of the core tradition of a culture. In addition, when the people are living outside their home country, they try to preserve their culture heritage from one generation to the other in their own local community. Nowadays, it is very important to teach younger generations the appreciation for the similarities and the differences of cultures around the globe. Yes, that is very important! Embracing a culture at the local, national, and global level will promote an understanding of the basic culture code and the symbolism that will help the global citizen in his/her interaction within a new culture environment and how to navigate comfortable in it. Explore, learn, try, observe and talk are simple action verbs that can help anyone to succeed in this endeavor. With my visual storytelling photograph, I will transport you to some of the beautiful places that have millennial heritage traditions and they are waiting for you to be rediscovered. So fast your seatbelt and enjoy the ride!
